Jaipur, June 8: Internet services in Jaipur were restored on Monday evening after being suspended for nearly 19 hours due to a significant anti-encroachment operation in the Jagatpura area.
The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) demolished over 100 illegal structures, including five religious buildings, as part of a road widening project along the railway line from Nandpuri underpass to Jagatpura. This initiative aimed to expand the road to its approved width of 80 feet.
To prevent any law and order issues, Jaipur’s divisional commissioner, V. Saravana Kumar, ordered the suspension of 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G mobile internet services across several parts of the city from midnight Sunday to midnight Monday.
However, services were restored around 7 PM after the operation concluded peacefully. Approximately 3,000 police personnel were deployed to ensure safety during the demolition campaign.
The entire power supply in the Nandpuri area was temporarily disrupted, barricades were set up on roads, and public movement was restricted. Drone cameras were utilized for aerial surveillance, while police used loudspeakers to request residents not to gather on rooftops or record videos of the operation.
Bulldozers and JCB machines were deployed early in the morning to remove encroachments along the route. The demolished structures included five religious buildings that fell within the road’s jurisdiction.
According to officials, encroachments had narrowed several sections of the road to just 25-30 feet, while the revenue records indicated an approved width of 80 feet. This 1.5-kilometer stretch connects Nandpuri underpass to Jagatpura and passes through six major residential colonies.
The administration stated that this project would significantly reduce traffic congestion on Hare Krishna Marg and improve connectivity between Nandpuri and Jagatpura. Residents of over 50 colonies are expected to benefit from easier access to key areas like Malviya Nagar, Pradhan Marg, and Apex Circle. The internet service suspension affected a large portion of Jaipur district.
Services were suspended in areas under the jurisdiction of police stations including Ramganj, Galta Gate, Manak Chowk, Subhash Chowk, Amer, Brahmpuri, Nahargarh, Kotwali, Jalupura, Sanjay Circle, Shastri Nagar, Bhatta Basti, Vidyadhar Nagar, and Jaisinghpura Khor in northern Jaipur.
In eastern Jaipur, the suspension extended to areas under the police stations of Bassi, Kanota, Tunga, Adarsh Nagar, Transport Nagar, Jawahar Nagar, Jamdoli, SMS Hospital, Gandhi Nagar, Lal Kothi, Motidungri, Airport, Malviya Nagar, Jawahar Circle, Bajaj Nagar, Kho-Nagorian, Sanganer, Pratap Nagar, Ramnagar, and Malpura Gate.
