New Delhi, August 30: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again called on citizens to purchase products made in India ahead of the upcoming festivals. He reiterated the ‘Vocal for Local’ initiative, stating that the path to India’s self-reliance will be paved by taking pride in domestically produced goods.
In his address during the 137th episode of the radio program ‘Mann Ki Baat’ on Sunday, PM Modi emphasized, “My dear countrymen, our festivals and traditions provide us with an opportunity to connect with one another.”
He highlighted the significance of the upcoming celebrations, mentioning that the auspicious festival of Janmashtami falls on September 4, followed by Vishwakarma Puja later that month. He urged people to honor local artisans and craftsmen during these occasions, noting that preparations for Diwali are also gradually beginning.
During his speech, PM Modi reiterated his call for ‘Vocal for Local’ during this festive season, clarifying that this initiative goes beyond merely buying clay lamps. “The vision is much broader,” he stated.
He encouraged citizens to check whether the products they purchase for their homes are made in India. “The path to self-reliance for India will be paved by taking pride in locally made products. It is also our responsibility to spread this message to as many people as possible,” he added.
PM Modi also acknowledged the significant role of creative professionals, influencers, and celebrities in this initiative. He urged them to adopt ‘Vocal for Local’ themselves and inspire others to do the same.
