Netanyahu Condemns Violence by Israeli Settlers in West Bank Attacks

Jerusalem, August 30: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has condemned the violence perpetrated by Israeli settlers in the West Bank, labeling the attacks on Palestinian villages Kusra and Jalud as “criminal acts.” He urged authorities to arrest those responsible for the violence.

In a statement released on Saturday, Netanyahu said, “I strongly condemn these criminal incidents of violence in the villages of Kusra and Jalud.” He referred to the attackers as “some rioters,” asserting that they are violating the law. Netanyahu emphasized that such assaults damage Israel’s international reputation and hinder military operations in the West Bank.

This statement comes amid reports of several Palestinians injured during attacks by Israeli settlers in various areas of the West Bank on Saturday.

According to reports, masked Israeli settlers invaded the village of Kusra and assaulted multiple Palestinians. This incident is considered the latest in a series of violent actions by settlers in recent days.

In the nearby village of Jalud, settlers also attacked a Palestinian family and foreign journalists. Social activist Bashar Al-Karyouti reported that the assailants vandalized journalists’ vehicles and physically assaulted some crew members.

According to Palestinian and Israeli sources, over 500,000 Israeli settlers reside in the West Bank, which has been under Israeli occupation since 1967. Approximately 3.4 million Palestinians also live in the same region.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported that from the beginning of 2026 until the end of July, more than 1,330 attacks by settlers were recorded in the West Bank, resulting in injuries to Palestinians or damage to their property. This averages more than six incidents per day.

The Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) reported that in July alone, Israeli forces and settlers conducted 2,256 attacks against Palestinians and their properties in the West Bank.
