Nagpur, August 30: An elderly man lost his life in a tragic accident on Japanese Garden Road in Nagpur on Sunday morning. A speeding Innova car lost control and crashed into the garden wall after colliding with the man who was out for a morning walk. The impact was so severe that the victim died on the spot, causing panic in the area.
According to reports, the incident occurred while several residents were enjoying their morning walks. A fast-moving car struck the elderly man from behind, leading to his immediate death. Following the collision, the car veered off and hit the garden’s wall.
Witnesses claim that two other cars were also speeding in the vicinity at the time of the accident. Police suspect that the three vehicles may have been racing, which could have led to the loss of control by one of the drivers. However, this racing theory has yet to be officially confirmed.
One person was trapped inside the vehicle involved in the accident. Upon receiving the alert, the police arrived promptly and conducted a rescue operation to extricate the individual. The injured person was rushed to the hospital, where treatment is ongoing.
In the aftermath of the incident, police have taken two individuals from the car into custody. Initial investigations suggest that the occupants may have been under the influence of alcohol. However, confirmation regarding their sobriety will only come after further investigation and medical tests.
Sagar Mirase, the police inspector at Gittikhadan police station, stated that a thorough investigation is underway. He emphasized that it will be determined whether the car occupants had consumed alcohol and if the three cars were indeed racing.
Currently, police have intensified their investigation. They are reviewing CCTV footage from the accident site and surrounding areas to uncover the activities of the vehicles involved and the actual causes of the crash.
The deceased’s daughter-in-law, Purnima, shared, “We received a call informing us about the accident. We rushed to the scene only to find out that he had already passed away.” She expressed concern over the behavior of the individuals in the vehicle, stating, “It appears they were under the influence, as decent people do not drive recklessly. We demand justice for the victims.”
