International Nurses Day: Delhi Chief Minister Engages with Caregivers

New Delhi, May 13: On the eve of International Nurses Day, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta conducted an unexpected inspection at the Lok Nayak Jay Prakash (LNJP) Hospital. This visit took place on Tuesday, as reported by an official.

During her visit, the Chief Minister toured various wards, met with nursing staff, and praised their spirit of selfless service.

According to an official statement, she spent time engaging in informal and heartfelt conversations with the nurses, listening to their experiences and understanding the challenges they face in their profession.

As a gesture of appreciation, the Chief Minister presented flowers to the nursing staff, moving many of them to tears.

Several nurses took selfies with the Chief Minister, describing the encounter as one of the most memorable moments of their careers.

Addressing the staff, CM Rekha Gupta remarked, “Nursing is not just a profession; it symbolizes compassion, humanity, and service.” She added, “Doctors treat, but it is the nurses who provide the emotional support and care that often aids in recovery.” She further noted that the patience and dedication of nurses in challenging situations are truly inspiring.

The Chief Minister also interacted with nursing staff from various states, including Kerala, Rajasthan, and Punjab. She emphasized that healthcare workers from across the country have played a crucial role in strengthening Delhi’s healthcare system and elevating it to world-class standards.

On the occasion of International Nurses Day, Delhi’s Health Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh congratulated the nursing community. He acknowledged their vital role in enhancing the healthcare system and serving humanity with dedication and compassion.

Speaking at a special event held at the LNJP Hospital’s MAMC Auditorium, the Health Minister stated that nursing is not merely a profession but a symbol of care, sensitivity, and selfless service.

He highlighted that when a child is born, the first person to care for the newborn, after the mother, is a nurse. He stressed the importance of empowering and supporting the nursing community.

Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh shed light on the crucial role of nurses in patient care, stating that together with doctors, they form the backbone of the healthcare system. He noted that from providing emotional support to ensuring continuous care and treatment, nurses significantly contribute to boosting patients’ confidence and aiding their recovery.

Additionally, the Health Minister congratulated LNJP Hospital for achieving the prestigious ‘Kayakalp Award’ for cleanliness and hygiene standards, attributing this success to the dedication and collective efforts of the nursing staff and healthcare professionals.
