Indian Skeet Shooters Miss Finals at ISSF World Cup Shotgun

New Delhi, May 5: On the second day of the International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) World Cup Shotgun, Indian skeet shooters failed to secure spots in the finals for both men’s and women’s events. Among the Indian competitors, Olympians Miraj Ahmed Khan and Raiza Dhillon delivered commendable performances.

In the competition held at the Asanov Shooting Club in Almaty, Kazakhstan, Miraj started the day in 26th place with a score of 71 out of 75. He finished strong, scoring 23 and 25 in his last two series, ending the qualification round in 18th place with a total of 119 points. Bhavtej Singh Gill, competing for ranking points, also performed well, scoring 119 (24, 24, 23, 24, 24) and finishing just behind Miraj in 19th place.

Olympian Anantjeet Singh Naruka began his fourth series with a perfect score of 25, followed by a score of 23 in the next series. He concluded his first World Cup of the season in 38th place with a total of 117 points.

The third Indian competitor, national champion Gurjot Singh Khangura, scored 22 and 23 in his last two series, finishing in 54th place with a total of 115 points. Abhay Singh Sekhon, also competing for ranking points, scored 23 and 20 in his fourth and fifth series, ending up in 71st place with a total of 113 points.

In the women’s event, Ganeemat Sekhon, who was just outside the top eight on the first day, scored only 22 and 20 in her last two series, dropping to 33rd place with a total of 112 points. Among the Indian athletes, Raiza Dhillon achieved the best performance, finishing in 17th place with a score of 115 (22, 23, 24, 23, 23).

Parinaz Dhaliwal scored 24 and 22 in her last two series, finishing just above Ganeemat in 32nd place with 112 points. Vanshika Tiwari, competing for ranking points, ended in 29th place with 112 points, while Rashmi Rathore finished in 47th place with a score of 102 points.
