Athens, July 29: Indian Ambassador Ravi Shankar met with Lieutenant General Demosthenis Grigoriadis, Chief of the Hellenic Air Force General Staff, on Tuesday. They discussed ongoing cooperation between the air forces of India and Greece, along with new initiatives.
According to the Indian Embassy in Greece, India’s participation in the major annual multinational air combat training exercise ‘Iniochos,’ hosted by the Hellenic Air Force, and Greece’s involvement in India’s largest biennial multinational air warfare exercise ‘Taranag Shakti’ have fostered a better understanding and strengthened partnership between the two nations’ air forces.
The embassy shared on social media platform ‘X,’ stating, “Ambassador Ravi Shankar met with Lieutenant General Demosthenis Grigoriadis. They discussed the ongoing collaboration between our air forces. Participation in ‘Iniochos’ by India and ‘Taranag Shakti’ by Greece has further solidified mutual understanding and partnership.”
Additionally, the Indian Ambassador met with Georgios Chourias, the Mayor of West Mani. They explored potential cooperation opportunities between the West Mani region and India, particularly regarding labor migration from India.
The discussions included employment opportunities in hospitality, construction, and agriculture for Indian nationals. They also addressed prospects for enhancing tourism between India and Greece.
Earlier, on July 16, Ambassador Ravi Shankar presented his letter of credence to the President of Greece. During this meeting, he conveyed best wishes from India’s leadership and assured his commitment to actively strengthening the India-Greece strategic partnership.
The embassy noted on ‘X,’ “Ambassador Ravi Shankar presented his credentials to the President of Greece. He extended best wishes from India’s leadership and assured that efforts will continue to enhance the strategic partnership between India and Greece.”
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), India and Greece have maintained a long-standing friendly relationship. Both countries have supported each other’s significant issues on international platforms. Over time, senior leaders from both nations have developed strong and trustworthy relationships.
