New Delhi, February 3: U.S. President Donald Trump has reduced tariffs on India from 25% to 18%. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw welcomed this move, stating that the strengths of both nations complement each other.

Vaishnaw expressed on the social media platform X that the U.S. and India are the world’s largest democracies and natural allies. He emphasized the immense potential for collaboration in peace and development between the two countries.

He noted that the U.S. and India can jointly develop technologies and solutions that benefit the global community. The trade agreement between the two nations is a step towards a brighter future, promising significant advantages for citizens and industries alike.

Earlier, Prime Minister Modi shared on X that he was pleased to speak with his friend President Trump. He expressed gratitude for the reduction in tariffs on ‘Made in India’ products, thanking Trump on behalf of India’s 1.4 billion people.

Modi highlighted that when two major economies and the world’s largest democracies collaborate, it benefits their citizens and opens up vast opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation. He acknowledged Trump’s leadership as crucial for global peace, stability, and prosperity, expressing eagerness to work together to elevate their partnership to unprecedented heights.

Prior to this, President Trump had a phone conversation with Prime Minister Modi, during which they discussed various issues, including trade. This information was shared by U.S. Ambassador to India, Sergio Gore.
