Chennai, April 3: Ahead of the assembly elections scheduled for April 9 in the Union Territory of Puducherry, Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted a grand road show on Friday, intensifying the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) campaign. The event drew immense enthusiasm from the crowd, with tight security measures in place.
The NDA coalition in Puducherry, which includes the Bharatiya Janata Party, the All India N.R. Congress led by Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, AIADMK, and other regional allies, is working to strengthen its position ahead of the elections.
PM Modi arrived in Chennai from New Delhi via a special flight. He then took a helicopter to Puducherry, signaling the BJP’s commitment to this election.
Upon arrival at Puducherry Airport, the Prime Minister was warmly welcomed by Chief Minister Rangasamy, senior BJP leaders, and party officials. This welcoming ceremony was part of a well-organized electoral strategy aimed at energizing party workers and attracting undecided voters.
From the airport, PM Modi traveled by car to the Ajantha Signal Junction, where he began his road show in an open-top vehicle. The procession continued to the Raj Theatre, with large crowds lining the streets. People on both sides of the road gave a rousing reception to the Prime Minister.
Supporters showered flowers, waved party flags, and chanted slogans. PM Modi acknowledged the crowd by waving from his vehicle. The atmosphere throughout the route was festive, with a significant turnout of BJP and allied party workers.
This road show is viewed as a crucial campaign effort for the NDA just days before voting, aimed at generating support and creating a favorable environment for the party.
In anticipation of the Prime Minister’s visit, authorities implemented a five-tier security arrangement across Puducherry. Security measures were stringent along the entire route of the road show, and the use of drones was completely banned to prevent any security breaches.
A large number of police and central security forces were deployed to ensure the event proceeded peacefully and smoothly.
After the road show, PM Modi is scheduled to return to Chennai by helicopter in the evening. His visit during the final phase of campaigning is considered significant for the NDA coalition, with hopes that it will provide a crucial advantage ahead of the elections on April 9.
