Shimla, April 3: The Meteorological Center of Himachal Pradesh has announced that a western disturbance will become active in the state starting late Friday evening. This weather system is expected to bring thunder, lightning, and moderate rainfall to various areas from late evening on April 3 until late night on April 4.
Sandeep Sharma, a scientist at the meteorological center, stated, “From Friday evening, the western disturbance will be in effect. As a result, thunderstorms and light to moderate rain are likely in several regions from late evening on April 3 to the night of April 4. An orange alert has been issued for the districts of Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, and Shimla, where there is also a possibility of hail in some areas.”
He further explained that the orange alert will remain in effect for these districts on April 3 and 4. Other regions will experience heavy rain and winds, prompting a yellow alert. From April 5 to 7, thunderstorms with lightning may occur in the plains, including Una, Bilaspur, and Hamirpur, as well as in the mid-hill districts of Kangra, Mandi, Kullu, and Shimla. These weather activities are expected to continue until April 7.
Sandeep Sharma added, “Another western disturbance is anticipated to arrive on April 8. This could bring light to moderate rainfall in several areas on that day. Overall, weather activities will commence on Friday evening and last until late night on April 4, with another activation expected from the night of April 8.”
He also mentioned that light rain is likely in the plains, while higher altitudes may see light snowfall. During this period, there is also a risk of strong winds and hail in some districts.
