
Bratislava, June 15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has described his recent meeting with Slovakia’s Prime Minister Robert Fico as a significant step for India-Slovakia relations. He stated that both nations have taken their partnership to a new level by designating it as a “Comprehensive Partnership.”
In a post on the social media platform X, Prime Minister Modi remarked, “I had a very productive meeting with Slovakia’s Prime Minister Robert Fico. This is indeed a special moment for the friendship between India and Slovakia. Given the strong potential of our relationship, we have elevated it to the status of ‘Comprehensive Partnership.’ Our discussions covered cooperation in sectors such as automobiles, railways, advanced manufacturing, and green technology. The India-EU Free Trade Agreement will further enhance our collaboration.”
PM Modi emphasized that technology is a crucial aspect of the India-Slovakia partnership. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on digital technology will open new avenues for cooperation. Additionally, both countries plan to collaborate in artificial intelligence (AI) and space.
During a joint press conference, PM Modi and Prime Minister Fico highlighted the outcomes of their meeting. Modi expressed confidence that this Comprehensive Partnership will lay the foundation for new opportunities, shared prosperity, and a bright future for the people of both nations.
Three major announcements were made during the visit, including the elevation of India-Slovakia relations to the level of Comprehensive Partnership and the establishment of a Joint Working Group for counter-terrorism cooperation. Furthermore, the initiation of consular dialogue was also announced.
Additionally, agreements were reached on quantum communication and critical infrastructure protection. In the health sector, a partnership was formed between India’s National Institute of Naturopathy and Slovakia’s Health Spa Piestany.
PM Modi also highlighted the importance of cultural and people-to-people ties between the two countries. He noted that the translation of India’s ancient Upanishads into Slovak is an excellent example of their cultural closeness. He praised the Indian diaspora in Slovakia for their significant contributions to the local economy and society.
The Prime Minister expressed optimism that this new Comprehensive Partnership will elevate India-Slovakia relations to new heights across various sectors, including trade, technology, defense, space, education, and cultural cooperation.
