New Delhi, June 3: India has firmly dismissed the mention of Jammu and Kashmir in the joint statement issued by Pakistan and the European Union (EU) on Tuesday. The Ministry of External Affairs reiterated that this matter is entirely an internal issue for India and urged those without a stake in the matter to refrain from commenting.
Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal addressed questions during a weekly briefing following the 8th Pakistan-EU Strategic Dialogue held in Islamabad. The dialogue included discussions where the Pakistani side provided information to the EU regarding Jammu and Kashmir.
Jaiswal stated emphatically, “We completely reject any unwarranted references to India’s internal matters in the joint press communication. Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are integral and inseparable parts of India. Those who have no rights in such matters should avoid making any comments.”
This incident marks yet another attempt by Pakistan to internationalize the Jammu and Kashmir issue. Pakistan frequently raises the Kashmir topic on global platforms, while India consistently maintains that it is an internal matter.
Last week, India criticized the unwarranted mention of Jammu and Kashmir in a joint statement following a meeting between leaders of China and Pakistan in Beijing, emphasizing that no other country has the right to comment on this issue.
Responding to media inquiries, New Delhi made it clear, “India completely rejects the unwarranted mention of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir in the joint statement by China and Pakistan.”
It further stated, “India’s position remains consistent, and the relevant parties are well aware of it. Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are integral and inseparable parts of India, and they always will be. No other country has the right to comment on this.”
