Indian High Commissioner Nagesh Singh Meets Former Australian PM Scott Morrison

Canberra, August 25: Nagesh Singh, the Indian High Commissioner to Australia, met with former Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison on Tuesday. They discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations.

During the meeting, Morrison highlighted his deep friendship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Indian High Commission in Australia shared on social media platform X, “High Commissioner Nagesh Singh met with former Australian PM Scott Morrison AC, who reminisced about his close friendship with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. They discussed the strong partnership between India and Australia, as well as the deep and enduring ties between the two nations.”

In July 2026, during a three-day visit to Australia, PM Modi met Morrison in Melbourne. They also discussed the significant progress made under the ‘Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.’

Following their meeting, PM Modi posted on X, “It is always a pleasure to meet former Prime Minister Scott Morrison. We had a very fruitful discussion on India-Australia friendship.”

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) noted that both leaders reviewed the key progress made in bilateral relations and recalled the achievements during Morrison’s tenure, which have continuously deepened cooperation between the two countries.

After the meeting, Morrison also shared his thoughts on social media, expressing confidence that India-Australia relations would reach new heights in the future.

During PM Modi’s three-day visit, he also held important discussions with Australian PM Anthony Albanese. They launched the ‘India-Australia Sports Collaboration Roadmap’ during a visit to the famous Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). This initiative is seen as a crucial step towards enhancing bilateral cooperation in sports, sports science, and sports infrastructure.
