New Delhi, August 1: A significant meeting aimed at enhancing the strong ties between India and Lesotho was held in New Delhi. This meeting took place on July 30, where both nations reviewed their bilateral relations.
Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal posted on the social media platform ‘X’, stating, “The sixth meeting of the Joint Bilateral Commission for Cooperation between India and Lesotho was held on July 30 in New Delhi. The meeting was co-chaired by Janesh Kain, Joint Secretary (E & SA) in the Ministry of External Affairs, and Thabang Lekhela, Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Relations of Lesotho.”
Jaiswal noted that the meeting reviewed the entire spectrum of relations between the two countries. Key topics included development cooperation, capacity building, humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, and collaboration on United Nations and other international platforms.
During the meeting, delegations from both countries assessed the progress of ongoing development partnership initiatives and discussed opportunities to strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest. They also explored ways to enhance capacity-building programs that support Lesotho’s development priorities through training, technical assistance, and institutional collaboration.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to increasing cooperation in the field of humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR). They acknowledged that coordinated efforts and mutual synergy are crucial for effectively addressing humanitarian crises and natural disasters.
India and Lesotho also exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest.
