Increased Train Services on Delhi-Meerut Nammo Bharat Corridor to Alleviate Passenger Congestion

New Delhi, May 27: In response to the rising number of passengers in the Delhi-NCR region, the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has significantly expanded train services on the Delhi-Meerut Nammo Bharat Corridor during peak hours. The corporation announced the introduction of 10 additional Nammo Bharat train trips between Sarai Kale Khan and Meerut South. This follows the addition of 8 extra trips last week, bringing the total to 18 new trips to enhance passenger convenience.

According to NCRTC, the new schedule will see 10 additional train trips operating from 7 AM to 11:30 AM during the morning rush. In the evening peak hours, 8 extra trains will run from 5 PM to 8:30 PM. This initiative aims to reduce passenger wait times, increase seat availability, and make travel more comfortable and efficient.

The Nammo Bharat service will primarily benefit daily commuters, students, and regular travelers. The increased train frequency will help alleviate crowding and long wait times. Trust in the Delhi-Meerut Corridor is growing, with nearly 100,000 passengers using the Nammo Bharat service daily.

NCRTC states that the Nammo Bharat trains have emerged as a fast, safe, reliable, and modern regional transport option. With temperatures in the NCR region reaching around 45 degrees Celsius, the fully air-conditioned Nammo Bharat trains provide much-needed relief to passengers. The increasing traffic jams and heat make road travel increasingly challenging.

In this context, Nammo Bharat trains not only offer a faster and more comfortable journey but also encourage people to opt for public transport over private vehicles. This shift will contribute to environmental protection and pollution control. Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged citizens to utilize public transport more frequently.

NCRTC’s initiative is seen as a significant step in that direction. The corporation emphasizes that passenger convenience is its top priority and that it will continue to expand services as needed. Increasing the number of trains during peak hours is considered a crucial effort to strengthen a sustainable and modern public transport system in the NCR.
