Noida, March 6: Recent strong winds have positively impacted the air quality in the National Capital Region (NCR). Areas in Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad have seen their Air Quality Index (AQI) fall into the moderate category, often referred to as the yellow zone.
This improvement has provided significant relief to residents, allowing them to breathe cleaner air. According to the latest data from monitoring stations, various regions in Delhi recorded moderate air quality levels.
In Alipur, the AQI was measured at 155, Anand Vihar at 229, Ashok Vihar at 149, Aya Nagar at 135, Bawana at 160, Burari Crossing at 132, the Cantonment Area at 140, Chandni Chowk at 181, Commonwealth Sports Complex at 140, and CRRI Mathura Road at 142. Most of these areas fall within the yellow zone, although Anand Vihar and Chandni Chowk continue to experience higher pollution levels.
Turning to Noida, monitoring stations reported an AQI of 158 in Sector 125, 141 in Sector 62, 160 in Sector 1, and 160 in Sector 116. All these figures also indicate a moderate air quality level, confirming an improvement in Noida as well.
In Ghaziabad, air quality remains moderate across various areas. Indirapuram recorded an AQI of 155, Loni at 213, Sanjay Nagar at 173, and Vasundhara at 159. The Loni area showed relatively higher pollution levels, while the rest remained in the moderate range. The meteorological department attributes the improved air quality to the reduction of pollutant accumulation due to the strong winds.
However, a rise in temperatures is expected in the coming days. The weather forecast predicts a maximum temperature of 34 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 16 degrees Celsius on March 6. On March 7 and 8, the maximum temperature may reach around 34 degrees, with a minimum of 17 degrees Celsius. Clear skies are anticipated, and no weather warnings have been issued.
Experts suggest that as temperatures increase, the weather will gradually shift towards warmer conditions. For now, the reduction in pollution due to strong winds has provided relief to NCR residents, allowing them to enjoy better air quality around the Holi festival.
