Dry Weather Predicted in Madhya Pradesh with Rising Temperatures

New Delhi, April 16, 2026 (Daily Kiran): The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert warning of heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds across 13 states, even as heat conditions continue in several parts of the country.

According to the forecast, states including Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Mizoram, Tripura, and Punjab are likely to experience thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and squally winds.

In the hill states, rainfall activity is expected to intensify. Regions such as Nainital, Rudraprayag, Almora, Dehradun, Uttarkashi, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh, and Chamoli in Uttarakhand are likely to witness rain. Himachal Pradesh may also see rainfall activity, along with strong winds in areas including Shimla, Mandi, Solan, Lahaul and Spiti, Hamirpur, and Kullu.

Jammu and Kashmir is also expected to experience thunderstorms and rain. Areas including Srinagar, Kupwara, Baramulla, Ganderbal, Kishtwar, Udhampur, Poonch, Anantnag, and Pulwama are likely to be affected.

Meanwhile, northern plains continue to face rising temperatures. In Delhi, the IMD has forecast partly cloudy skies on April 16 and 17, with maximum temperatures expected to hover around 39°C. No significant drop in heat conditions is expected during this period.

In Uttar Pradesh, no rain alert has been issued for April 16. The weather is expected to remain hot, with rising temperatures in several districts including Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Deoria, Azamgarh, Ghazipur, Ballia, Jaunpur, Basti, Mirzapur, and Bijnor.

The IMD has indicated that while plains will continue to experience intense heat, intermittent rainfall activity is likely in mountainous regions over the coming days.
