Dehradun, 01 September (Kiran News): A tragic accident occurred in Rudraprayag district on Monday morning when a Bolero vehicle, carrying passengers from Sonprayag to Gaurikund, was struck by a falling boulder at the Munkatiya landslide zone. Two people lost their lives in the incident, while six others sustained injuries. The vehicle was carrying a total of 11 passengers. With the help of rescue teams and local residents, the injured were taken to Sonprayag Hospital for treatment.
According to Rudraprayag Police, the Bolero was travelling on the route between Sonprayag and Gaurikund when a boulder from the hillside fell onto the vehicle at the Munkatiya landslide zone, leading to the accident and resulting in the deaths of two passengers.
The injured include Naveen Singh Rawat (son of Jayendra Singh, resident of Siyalab, Barkot police station, Uttarkashi, age 35), Mamta (wife of Chain Singh Panwar, resident of Siyalab, Barkot, Uttarkashi, age 29), Pratibha (daughter of Girwar Singh, resident of Siyalab, Barkot, Uttarkashi, age 25), Mohit Chauhan (son of Upendra Chauhan), Rajeshwari (wife of Naveen, age 35, Uttarkashi), and the vehicle driver Pankaj (son of Hukam Singh, age 24, Kokmalla, Nandanagar, Chamoli). Naveen and Mamta were seriously injured and have been referred to a higher medical center for advanced treatment.
The deceased have been identified as Rita (wife of Uday Singh, resident of Siyalab, Barkot police station, Uttarkashi, age 30) and Chandra Singh (son of Kalam Singh, resident of Siyalab, Barkot, Uttarkashi, age 50).
