Udaipur, July 1, 2026 (Daily Kiran): Hindustan Zinc Limited, the world’s largest integrated zinc producer and a leading silver producer, has been honoured with six awards at the 30th Bhamashah Samman Ceremony for its contribution to education through corporate social responsibility initiatives.

The company’s six units — Rampura Agucha Mine, Chanderiya Lead Zinc Smelter, Zawar Mines, Rajpura Dariba Complex, Zinc Smelter Debari and Kayad Mine — received the Shiksha Vibhushan Award for their positive contribution to the education sector.
This marks the 11th consecutive year that the Government of Rajasthan has recognised Hindustan Zinc for its transformative educational initiatives and efforts to provide quality education. Since 2017, the company has invested more than ₹551 crore in education-related interventions, benefiting over two lakh children annually.
The awards were presented during a ceremony held at Birla Auditorium under the chief guestship of Prem Chand Bairwa. During the event, Deputy Chief Minister Prem Chand Bairwa and Madan Dilawar honoured 145 Bhamashahs and 99 motivators from across the state with certificates of appreciation.
Other dignitaries present included Rajesh Yadav, Vishva Mohan Sharma, Dr Rashmi Sharma, Sita Ram Jat and Mahendra Khinchi.
The awards were received on behalf of Hindustan Zinc by officials from its various units, including Rammurari, Manisha Bhati, Mamta Sharma, Vivek Yadav, Ruchika Chawla, Abhay Gautam, Amit Malani and Rajesh Choudhary.
Over the past nine years, Hindustan Zinc has invested more than ₹551 crore in education-focused social development initiatives. Of this, ₹83 crore has been spent on infrastructure development, including classroom construction, toilets, playgrounds, drinking water facilities and electrification, while ₹468 crore has been allocated to long-term educational programmes.
These initiatives include Nand Ghar centres for early childhood care, Shiksha Sambal, Jeevan Tarang for children with special needs, Unchi Udaan for higher education, programmes supporting higher education for rural girls, and support for company-operated schools.
The company’s education programmes currently benefit more than two lakh children every year and have contributed to improvements in school enrolment, retention of adolescent girls in education and learning outcomes in rural and tribal regions.
Under the Shiksha Sambal programme, the Class 10 pass percentage has increased from 47 percent in 2007 to 92.53 percent in 2026. While Rajasthan’s average examination result over the last decade has been around 67.66 percent, 37 schools associated with the programme have achieved a 100 percent pass rate.
To further strengthen access to quality education for underprivileged children in rural Rajasthan, Hindustan Zinc has signed an MoU with the state Education Department that will see an investment of ₹36 crore over the next five years to support educational development across the state.
Apart from education, the company continues to implement programmes focused on women’s empowerment, farmer development, healthcare, water conservation, sanitation, infrastructure improvement and sustainable livelihoods. These initiatives have collectively impacted more than 2.6 million people across over 4,000 villages.
