New Delhi, March 21: In the Paonta assembly constituency of Himachal Pradesh, ₹55 lakhs have been allocated for relief efforts from the MLA fund. BJP Mandal President Hitesh Kumar announced this during a press conference, stating that relief operations have intensified in the area affected by floods and heavy rainfall. He mentioned that MLA Sukhram Chaudhary approved this amount, enabling a swift response to the crisis.
Hitesh Kumar highlighted that various panchayats in the region have suffered significant losses to crops and arable land due to the floods. While some areas have witnessed protests, the MLA has prioritized direct financial assistance to the affected regions for relief work.
During the press conference, it was revealed that ₹40 lakhs have been sanctioned for repairing the irrigation scheme damaged by the flooding of the Giri River in the Bangran area. Additionally, ₹7.5 lakhs have been allocated for protecting farmers’ land in the Khara Khala of Jamniwala Panchayat, and another ₹7.5 lakhs for flood-affected land preservation in the Ajiwala area of Kundiyans Panchayat.
Citing MLA Sukhram Chaudhary, Hitesh Kumar stated that the development of the region is only possible when “the son of Paonta stands strong.” He emphasized that the MLA has made it clear, “I will work as a servant to the servants. Serving the public is my duty, and I will continue to fulfill it with utmost dedication.”
He noted that while some individuals are raising issues through protests in the aftermath of the disaster, the release of relief funds and a focus on ground-level action have sparked a new debate on “work versus rhetoric.”
Currently, this step taken amidst the relief efforts signals a clear indication in Paonta’s politics that development and grassroots work will remain the primary issues in the times to come.
