Mumbai, July 1: Sanjay Raut, a Member of Parliament from the Uddhav Thackeray faction, criticized party MLA Sachin Ahir for joining Eknath Shinde’s camp. He questioned why anyone should mourn the departure of those who joined the party solely for their own benefit.
On the social media platform X, Raut subtly targeted those leaving the party, stating, “Why hope for the light of four rays? Why wait for those who were never truly with us?” He further emphasized, “Why should we lament the departure of those who entered the party with selfishness and dishonesty?”
Expressing deep disappointment, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray questioned what more could have been offered to Ahir. He noted, “We have been witnessing for the past four days, or rather the last four years, that those who were closest and received everything are leaving the party for their own interests. Therefore, there is nothing surprising or shocking about this. Areas like Worli or Sewri have always been strongholds of Shiv Sena and will continue to be. The arrival or departure of anyone does not affect us.”
He added, “It’s not that they couldn’t talk to me. Whether it was the ward committee, the deputy leader position in Shiv Sena, or the union president role, there was daily communication and contact. So, the question arises, what more do you want? Was it that we weren’t meeting, as others often complain? That wasn’t the case; we were always together. So how much more will you take, and what else should we do? Should we now pray for you daily?”
However, Ahir firmly denied these accusations, stating, “It is unfortunate that while we were together, we were considered good, but as soon as we parted ways, we were deemed incompetent. I will respond to this criticism on the appropriate political platform.”
Speaking at a press conference alongside Deputy Chief Minister and Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde, Ahir countered Raut’s claims that he joined the party for personal gain, asking, “Was I selfish when I first joined their group? If I wasn’t then, why am I now? I have always tried to fulfill the responsibilities assigned to me by Uddhav and Aaditya Thackeray diligently.”
He further remarked, “It is unfortunate that as soon as you are no longer with them, you are deemed useless. What can be said about those who have never lifted a stone from the ground yet begin to preach to others?”
Ahir claimed that while in UBT, he worked diligently to strengthen the party organization in Pune district, where he was assigned organizational tasks. He also stated that during his tenure as a corporator, MLA, and minister, he tried his best to contribute.
