Noida, April 24: The National Capital Region (NCR) is currently experiencing extreme heat and the effects of a persistent heat wave. According to the meteorological department, temperatures are expected to peak on April 24 and 25, forcing residents to endure intense hot winds.
On April 24, the maximum temperature reached approximately 43 degrees Celsius, with a minimum of 25 degrees. The forecast for April 25 predicts a similar maximum temperature of 43 degrees and a minimum of 26 degrees. During both days, heat wave conditions will prevail in the afternoon and evening.
However, signs of a weather change are anticipated starting April 26. On this day, a slight decrease in maximum temperature to around 42 degrees and a minimum of 26 degrees is expected. The sky will be partially cloudy, and light rain accompanied by thunder may occur in some areas. From April 27 to 29, the weather is expected to be relatively more comfortable, with temperatures ranging between 41-42 degrees and partial cloud cover. The meteorological department has not issued any warnings for these days.
Meanwhile, the air quality index (AQI) remains a significant concern. In many parts of NCR, air quality has deteriorated to levels classified as poor to very poor. In Anand Vihar, Delhi, an AQI of 318 was recorded, placing it in the red zone. Loni (Ghaziabad) reported an AQI of 361, and Ved Vihar-Loni recorded 353, indicating very poor air quality. Other areas such as Sanjay Nagar (293), Indirapuram (272), and Govindpuram (238) remain in the orange zone.
In Greater Noida, Knowledge Park-5 recorded an AQI of 318, while Knowledge Park-3 had an AQI of 235, placing them in the red and orange categories, respectively. Similarly, areas in Delhi such as Ashok Vihar (219), Chandni Chowk (210), CRRI Mathura Road (194), and Burari Crossing (179) also show unsatisfactory air quality.
Experts suggest that fluctuations in AQI will continue due to strong winds and dust. Residents are advised to avoid going outside during extreme heat, stay hydrated, and sensitive individuals should wear masks. With the expected light rain and cloud movement in the coming days, a decrease in temperature and some relief from pollution is anticipated.
