
New Delhi, June 18: Union Minister for Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju has hailed Haj 2026 as the most successful pilgrimage to date, noting that the arrangements made for Indian Haj pilgrims have received international acclaim.
He stated that a comprehensive review was conducted of the entire Haj process, from departure from India to the arrangements in Saudi Arabia, including Mecca and Medina, and the return journey back to India.
Rijiju remarked, “We can confidently say that Haj 2026 has been the best Haj ever. As a result, India has received two awards, which were presented to us through the Ministry of External Affairs. This achievement was made possible through everyone’s cooperation.”
He highlighted the positive impact of the Haj Facilitation App, which provided pilgrims with easy access to essential services. Rijiju also mentioned that Saudi Arabian officials praised the Indian arrangements, particularly in healthcare. He noted, “The people of Saudi Arabia have remarked that India’s healthcare system is outstanding.”
Discussing improvements in facilities for Haj pilgrims, the Union Minister revealed that the insurance coverage has been increased from ₹5 lakh to ₹6.25 lakh. Additionally, the new policy for Haj pilgrims aged 65 and above has received positive feedback.
Rijiju stated that efforts will continue to enhance arrangements in the future, including increasing manpower, the number of state Haj inspectors, and security personnel as needed.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Minority Affairs announced on the social media platform ‘X’ that preparations for Haj 2027 have commenced. A review meeting held at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi assessed the successful execution of Haj 2026 and discussed the framework for Haj 2027.
The meeting reiterated the government’s commitment to providing Indian Haj pilgrims with a safe, comfortable, transparent, and respectful travel experience.
