Giriraj Singh Claims No Mention of Cow Sacrifice in Quran Amid Gulf Nations Discussions on Animal Slaughter Ban

Patna, May 25: Central Minister Giriraj Singh responded on Sunday to reports suggesting that Saudi Arabia is considering a ban on the sacrifice of cows and camels. He also criticized the central government regarding comments made by Rahul Gandhi.

In an interview with a news agency, Singh claimed that discussions are ongoing in some Gulf countries about prohibiting the slaughter of large animals.

He stated, “They are Arab Muslims, true Muslims, not converted Muslims. Nowhere in the Quran is cow sacrifice mentioned, and this unnecessary controversy is being created in India.”

Singh further asserted that there are converted Muslims in India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. He accused certain groups in India of raising the issue of cow slaughter to hurt Hindu sentiments, adding, “Hindus worship cows, so they have started doing this.”

The minister emphasized the need for strict adherence to legal provisions regarding cattle slaughter and urged state officials, including those in Bihar, to take strong action against violators.

He also praised some states for regulating public cattle slaughter practices. “I want to thank the Chief Ministers of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal for banning cattle slaughter on the streets,” he said.

Singh accused opposition parties of engaging in appeasement politics for electoral gain, claiming that such politics has contributed to recurring social and religious tensions.

In a separate comment, he dismissed Rahul Gandhi’s prediction that the NDA government would fall within a year, questioning the credibility of the Congress leader.

“If Rahul Gandhi is a fortune teller, he should first talk about his own future,” he remarked.

He also alleged that Gandhi was attempting to divert attention from questions regarding financial disclosures, which reportedly include an income of 11 crores and 60 crores spent on foreign travel.

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foreign trips, Singh noted that the Prime Minister has already clarified that these trips are linked to official commitments in areas such as crude oil, gas, semiconductors, and defense cooperation.

He concluded by stating that anyone facing allegations of financial irregularities should respond transparently to the public and the law.
