Kolkata, May 25: BJP leader Locket Chatterjee has criticized the appointment of Ratan U. Kelkar, Kerala’s Chief Electoral Officer, as the secretary to Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan. He stated that such actions reflect the Congress party’s operational style and mindset.
In an interview with a news agency, Chatterjee accused Congress of weakening the nation over the past 70 years, while asserting that the BJP is working towards uniting the country.
Highlighting West Bengal‘s strategic importance due to its borders with three countries, Chatterjee expressed that the BJP has long envisioned a path of development and security for the state, which is now gradually becoming a reality.
He supported ongoing actions against illegal constructions and corruption in the state, emphasizing that the BJP government had committed to strictly curbing all forms of illegal and corrupt activities before coming to power.
Chatterjee claimed that within just 15 days of the new government taking office, several illegal constructions in the Tiljala area were demolished. According to him, this action is a significant step towards strengthening law and order and eliminating corruption.
He also targeted Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee, stating that if any public representative engages in illegal activities, they should face legal consequences.
Chatterjee asserted that the Constitution and laws grant equal rights to all citizens, and no one is above the law. Those who have constructed buildings illegally will also face repercussions.
He addressed the serious issue of illegal immigrants in the state, mentioning that the Home Ministry has been issuing directives for their identification and action for several years.
He claimed that while some individuals have left the state, many still attempt to reside here without valid documents. Under BJP governance, strict actions will be taken against such cases.
