Mumbai, July 22: Sanjay Nirupam, spokesperson for Shiv Sena, has expressed his views on the ongoing protests related to NEET, questioning Congress’s approach and the current political landscape. He also voiced support for the central government‘s stance on the Indus Water Treaty and Pakistan.
Nirupam stated, “This is a longstanding political behavior of Congress. The party publicly shows sympathy towards movements but avoids direct involvement. They have adopted a similar stance regarding NEET and the alleged paper leak issue.”
He claimed, “Over the past decade, Congress has been politically weakening. There are ongoing questions about the party’s strategy and leadership, which is distancing it from mainstream politics. Congress needs to seriously reconsider its political outlook.”
Commenting on the protests at Jantar Mantar, Nirupam noted, “Initially, the aim of this movement was to draw the government’s attention to students’ issues. Following the protests, the government took the matter seriously and decided to conduct a re-examination. Necessary precautions were taken to prevent incidents like paper leaks during the re-examination. However, over time, the nature of this movement has changed, with increased participation from various political parties, especially leftist organizations. The movement is no longer limited to student issues; it has also become intertwined with political activities.”
Regarding the Indus Water Treaty, the Shiv Sena spokesperson remarked, “After the murder of tourists in Pahalgam, India has adopted a tougher stance towards Pakistan. The actions taken by India concerning the Indus River have put pressure on Pakistan. If Pakistan expects anything regarding the Indus River in the future, it must first curb cross-border terrorist activities. Until Pakistan takes concrete and credible steps against terrorism, there is unlikely to be any change in India’s policy.”
