Gaurav Masalewala Arrested in Attempted Murder Case in Najafgarh

New Delhi, May 20: The Delhi Police’s Crime Branch has apprehended Gaurav, also known as Love Sharma or Sandeep Masalewala, the main shooter in an attempted murder case in the Najafgarh area. The accused had been evading law enforcement for an extended period, frequently changing his location.

The Anti-Gangster Squad (AGS) of the Crime Branch captured him based on a tip-off near the Deen Dayal Hospital in Harinagar. During the arrest, Gaurav attempted to flee and resist, but the police team successfully restrained him.

According to a press release from the police, Gaurav is a history-sheeter at the Najafgarh police station, with 11 criminal cases registered against him, including murder, robbery, snatching, extortion, and violations of the Arms Act. The Delhi Police stated that his arrest would significantly disrupt criminal activities in the Najafgarh area.

The incident occurred on the night of April 23. The complainant reported that he was sleeping at his friend’s house in Roshan Garden, Najafgarh, when his friend’s niece informed him about a fight involving two individuals with her uncle. Upon stepping outside, he witnessed Gaurav and Prince Mittal assaulting his friend. When the complainant intervened, Gaurav drew a pistol and fired, injuring him in the leg.

Following the incident, both suspects fled on a motorcycle. The injured individual was promptly taken to Brahm Shakti Sanjeevani Hospital in Bahadurgarh for treatment. Subsequently, a case of attempted murder and violations of the Arms Act was registered at the Najafgarh police station.

During the investigation, Head Constable Parmjeet received information that the fugitive was heading to Deen Dayal Hospital. A team was formed under Inspector Gulshan Yadav, including SI Chetan, SI Rajesh, ASI Mahesh Tyagi, ASI Ashok, Head Constable Parmjeet, Badri Prasad, Arvind, and Hukam. The entire operation was conducted under the supervision of ACP Bhagwati Prasad and DCP Crime Branch Harsh Indora.

According to police reports, Gaurav completed his eighth grade at a government school in Najafgarh. In his teenage years, he fell into bad company and began committing petty crimes to fund his alcohol addiction. He later became involved with local criminals and became active in the world of crime. In 2025, due to financial difficulties, he began extorting money from bookies and illegal liquor traders. After committing these crimes, he fled, abandoning his family.
