Gonda, September 12 (Daily Kiran) : Tensions are rising in Uttar Pradesh politics following the Gonda murder case. The Samajwadi Party (SP) has launched a fierce attack on the state government, accusing it of failing to protect marginalized communities, including backward classes, Dalits, and minorities. SP spokesperson Ashutosh Verma stated that there is a growing trend of targeted killings in the state, exemplified by the murder of Vinod Sahni, a member of the Nishad community, who was killed after writing against the government.
Verma criticized local authorities and police for their inaction in the case. He highlighted the protests led by state minister Sanjay Nishad, questioning the government’s accountability. “It is ironic that a cabinet minister from a backward community has to protest for justice in his own state,” Verma remarked, indicating a persistent feudal mindset in governance.
He further pointed out that if a minister must take to the streets for justice, it reflects poorly on the state’s administrative structure. Verma also directed his criticism at Nishad for benefiting from the government for five years while still needing to demand justice for his community member. With elections approaching, he emphasized that remaining in power does not serve the community’s interests.
Verma referenced the Anjali Gautam murder case, alleging negligence in filing the FIR after her gang rape and murder. He accused the Yogi Adityanath government of adopting a discriminatory approach towards backward classes, Dalits, and minorities.
As the assembly elections draw near, Verma declared that the SP is fully prepared for the electoral battle, asserting that the people of the state are eager for change. He praised the leadership of Akhilesh Yadav, expressing confidence that the party will contest the elections vigorously.
Verma also criticized the ruling BJP over issues like reservation, unemployment, and governmental actions, asserting that the public will respond at the polls. He concluded by stating that the future of Uttar Pradesh lies with the backward, Dalit, and minority communities, and the SP is ready to form a government based on this social coalition.
