New Delhi, September 12 (Daily Kiran) : Congress MP Pramod Tiwari has voiced strong opinions regarding the recent discussions between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Iranian President Masoud Pajeshkian. His remarks come in light of various political developments, including the resignation of former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat and the ongoing India-China border tensions.
Tiwari emphasized the need to maintain the historical and friendly relations between India and Iran. He recalled how, during India’s struggle for independence, the nation faced severe economic challenges, and Arab nations, particularly Iran, provided crude oil at low prices. He also noted Iran’s support for India on the Kashmir issue at the United Nations.
Addressing the military actions against Iran by the United States, Tiwari criticized Modi for not standing up to former President Donald Trump while instead embracing him.
Following the Enforcement Directorate’s raid on a colleague of Harish Rawat, Tiwari connected Rawat’s resignation to the party’s ethical standards. He stated that the Congress party believes in distancing itself from significant corruption. According to Tiwari, Rawat’s decision to resign reflects a commitment to ethical governance and sets a precedent for accountability in public service.
On the topic of rising tensions with China, Tiwari questioned the recent comments made by Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, wondering if he had taken on the responsibilities of the Ministry of External Affairs. He pointed out that those who should be addressing issues related to China have remained silent.
Tiwari further alleged that China is attempting to claim Arunachal Pradesh as its territory, constructing “smart villages,” and renaming areas within Indian borders. He asserted that Prime Minister Modi is the one capable of countering these actions. The Congress party’s position is clear: no compromise will be accepted regarding even a small part of India’s territory.
