Chandigarh, September 14 (Daily Kiran) : Major Bhupinder Singh Dhillon, a close associate of the late former Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, officially joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday. His induction took place under the leadership of state party president Keval Singh Dhillon. Bhupinder Singh Dhillon served as Badal’s political secretary for 25 years and was a minister in the Akali government from 1997 to 2002. The event was also attended by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.

Bhupinder Singh Dhillon’s father, the late Gurraj Singh Dhillon Badal, was a member of the Rajya Sabha from 1952 to 1958, playing a crucial role in Parkash Singh Badal’s early political career.

A veteran of the Indian Army, Bhupinder Singh Dhillon actively participated in the 1971 India-Pakistan war and continued his military service until 1988. Since 1994, he has been involved in election campaigns and maintained strong connections with the people of the Longowal Assembly constituency.

His entry into the BJP is viewed as a significant boost to the party’s organizational and political strength in Punjab, especially in the Malwa region.

In another notable development, the BJP achieved a major success in the Sunam Assembly constituency as Pradeep Josh, the president of the Sunam Municipal Committee and state secretary of the Aam Aadmi Party’s Scheduled Caste wing, joined the BJP along with his supporters.

This event is significant as several prominent political leaders, officials, and social activists from Sunam also joined the BJP alongside Josh. Key figures joining include Swarn Singh, the Scheduled Caste wing president of the Shiromani Akali Dal’s Malwa zone, along with Rajat Batish, Narottam Bhatnagar, and others.

Numerous prominent social activists connected to the Sunam Welfare Club also joined the BJP, including Varinder Singh, Harminder Singh, Jagdeep Singh, and others.

Welcoming Pradeep Josh and the new members, Dhillon emphasized that the inclusion of prominent political and social activists reflects the growing public trust in the BJP’s policies and leadership. He reiterated the party’s commitment to the development of Punjab and the welfare of all sections of society.

The entry of Josh and his supporters is expected to strengthen the BJP’s organizational base and grassroots presence in the Sunam Assembly constituency.
