Shiv Sena Criticizes Congress Over Backward Classes Representation in Telangana MLC Elections

Hyderabad, October 6 (Daily Kiran) : The political landscape in Telangana is heating up ahead of the upcoming biennial elections for two graduate constituencies in the Legislative Council. Shiv Sena’s Telangana state president, Sinkaru Shivaji, has launched a sharp critique against the Congress party for failing to nominate candidates from the backward classes. He accused Congress and the INDIA alliance of ignoring and betraying the backward community.

The Congress party has announced its candidates: Sama Ram Mohan Reddy for the Mahbubnagar-Rangareddy-Hyderabad constituency, and Ram Reddy Sarvottam Reddy for the Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda seat. Shivaji pointed out that Congress had previously promised 42 percent reservation for the backward classes, but there has been no action to fulfill this commitment.

In an interview, he stated, “The National Election Commission has issued notifications for two MLC seats in Telangana, and the voter enrollment process is underway.” He emphasized that the Congress party has deceived the backward classes. Despite grand promises from Congress and INDIA alliance leaders to secure 42 percent reservation, the reality is starkly different. Neither of the two MLC seats has been allocated to the backward community, which has not gone unnoticed.

Shivaji raised critical questions about Congress’s commitment: “Today, Rahul Gandhi speaks of fighting for the backward classes, yet why have they not given a single seat to this community? What kind of party has Congress become? Both candidates are from the Reddy community. We are not opposing the Reddy community, but shouldn’t the backward classes also be given an opportunity? Will these leaders not provide representation to the backward classes?”

Discussing Shiv Sena’s strategy for the upcoming elections, Shivaji asserted that the party would contest both MLC seats with full strength. They plan to address local issues such as unemployment and other public welfare topics, particularly focusing on the Hyderabad-Ranga Reddy-Mahbubnagar seat, where Shiv Sena has significant support.

Shivaji also expressed his willingness to contest the elections himself, stating that he is prepared to run for the Mahbubnagar-Hyderabad-Ranga Reddy seat if the party leadership offers him the opportunity.
