Former Actress Anu Aggarwal Reveals Why She Turned Down Multiple Film Offers

Mumbai, June 23: Anu Aggarwal, who gained fame from the 1990 blockbuster film ‘Aashiqui’, has made a significant revelation about her acting career. In a recent Instagram post, she shared the reasons behind her decision to decline several film offers.

In her post, Anu shared a photo of herself in a simple off-white saree. She expressed a long-standing concern regarding whether the audience, who pays to watch her films, receives something worthwhile in return.

She wrote, “One thing that has always troubled me as an artist is that people pay to see my films. While this may sound trivial, it’s something I constantly ponder. Many viewers come from middle-class and lower-middle-class backgrounds. Some save money for tickets, while others stretch their budgets to afford them. I often ask myself if we are providing them with something better in exchange for their money.”

Anu further explained that this mindset influenced her film selection process. “It’s not enough for a film to be successful; it’s also crucial that it is worthy of the audience’s time and money. I received many scripts that I felt were not suitable for viewers, which led me to reject those films.”

She emphasized, “This was not just about avoiding typecasting or choosing the right roles. I felt a responsibility towards the people sitting in the theater. The audience has given me so much. The least I could do was respect their time, attention, and trust.”

Anu concluded, “This philosophy defined my career and is the reason I distanced myself from many films.”
