Mumbai witnessed a tragic fire incident in Bhagat Singh Nagar, Goregaon West, resulting in the death of three members of the same family. The fire broke out late at night in a residential building while the family members were asleep, causing panic in the neighbourhood.
A Mumbai Fire Brigade official confirmed that the fire has been brought under control. Initial reports had confirmed the deaths of a man and a woman, but a subsequent official statement from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) clarified that three people had died in the blaze.
According to the BMC, the fire occurred in a ground plus one-storey house. The fire was mostly confined to the ground floor, affecting electrical wiring and household items. However, on the first floor, clothes in one of the rooms caught fire. The exact room number could not be identified. Before the fire brigade arrived, local residents tried to extinguish the fire using buckets of water. After cutting off the electricity supply, fire brigade personnel also helped put out the fire completely with water buckets.
The three individuals who were burnt in the fire were rescued by the fire brigade and taken to Trauma Care Hospital. Unfortunately, doctors declared them dead on arrival.
From hospital sources, Dr. Moin, RMO of Trauma Care Hospital, stated that the victims had already passed away before reaching the hospital. The deceased have been identified as Harshada Pawaskar (19), Kushal Pawaskar (12), and Sanjog Pawaskar (48), all belonging to the same family.
The Mumbai Fire Brigade confirmed that the fire has been fully extinguished. An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing, with a short circuit being the preliminary suspected cause.
