Amritsar, June 25: Congress MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla has criticized Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, stating that after listening to his recent press conference, it seemed he was more focused on commenting about political opponents rather than addressing serious issues.
In a conversation, Aujla emphasized that winning and losing are normal processes in a democracy, and all political parties should respect the public’s decision. He noted that the Aam Aadmi Party has also faced defeats in various elections, suggesting that there should be no double standards regarding electoral outcomes.
Aujla stated that if the Chief Minister and the state government are confident in their stance, they should allow an impartial agency to investigate the matter. He proposed that the inquiry be conducted under the supervision of an international forensic agency or a current or retired High Court judge to reveal the truth of the situation.
He urged political parties and leaders to use restrained language, especially regarding sensitive religious matters, particularly those related to the Akal Takht. Aujla accused government spokespersons and ministers of making statements that exacerbate the controversy in recent days.
He asserted that maintaining the dignity of any religious institution is the responsibility of all political parties. While political differences may exist, respect for religious institutions and constitutional positions should take precedence.
Aujla appealed to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to step forward for a fair investigation, noting that numerous international forensic laboratories today have their reports recognized in courts. An investigation by such agencies would clarify the situation, revealing the truth to the public.
He also demanded that the Chief Minister take moral responsibility and resign from his position.
