Fire Erupts in Telangana Electric Bus, 40 Passengers Escape Unharmed

Hyderabad, June 21: A major incident was narrowly avoided in Karimnagar district, Telangana, when an electric bus suddenly caught fire on Sunday. The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) bus was en route from Karimnagar to Hyderabad.

The fire broke out near Alugunur in the Timmapur mandal. According to police reports, smoke was seen emanating from the engine as the bus approached Alugunur. The driver promptly stopped the bus and alerted the passengers, allowing all 41 individuals on board to evacuate safely.

Within moments, the bus was engulfed in flames. Fire department teams arrived quickly and managed to extinguish the blaze, but the bus was completely destroyed by then. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported in this incident. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, with police having registered a case.

This is not the first incident involving TSRTC electric buses catching fire. Previously, on March 29, an electric bus parked at a Hanumakonda depot was completely destroyed due to a short circuit.

In another incident on the same day, a container truck overturned in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, causing significant traffic congestion. The accident occurred near Boralagudam in the Choutuppal mandal. Although there were no injuries, the truck’s position blocked the Hyderabad-Vijayawada National Highway, halting traffic for vehicles coming from Vijayawada to Hyderabad.

Police deployed two cranes to remove the container truck, which was carrying solar energy equipment to Chennai. Traffic was diverted in several areas to alleviate the situation for drivers.
