
Howrah, June 7: Kailash Mishra, a close aide of TMC candidate Abhishek Banerjee from the Bally assembly seat, has been arrested by West Bengal police in Madhubani. Reports indicate that multiple criminal cases were filed against him in various police stations across West Bengal around the 2026 elections.
According to sources, FIRs were registered against Mishra for charges related to assault, threats, and extortion in the Bally, Howrah, and Lilua police jurisdictions. A team from the West Bengal police traveled to Madhubani to carry out the arrest.
Kailash Mishra is a resident of Arer Purwari Toll in the Benipatti block of Madhubani district and is a leader of the TMC under Abhishek Banerjee’s leadership. Following the news of his arrest, discussions have intensified in political and social circles. However, neither the West Bengal police nor the local administration has issued an official statement regarding the matter. Police officials have also not provided detailed information about the arrest.
The arrest of Kailash Mishra has sparked conversations at various levels. It is reported that the West Bengal police will present him in the relevant court after completing the necessary legal procedures. Currently, detailed information about the reasons for the arrest and the registered cases will only be clarified after official confirmation. There has been no formal acknowledgment from the administrative level regarding the case.
Earlier, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested former TMC MLA Shaukat Molla in connection with a bomb blast case in South 24 Parganas. Molla was attempting to flee to neighboring Bangladesh through coastal areas of South 24 Parganas when he was spotted by local villagers. Although he initially escaped, authorities have since increased surveillance and roadblocks in coastal border areas.
