Washington, June 7: Amid rising tensions in the Middle East, the U.S. military has made a significant claim. According to U.S. Central Command, two Iranian “one-way attack drones” posing a threat to international maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz have been shot down.
U.S. Central Command announced on the social media platform X that these drones were intercepted before they could strike. The military is fully prepared to counter Iranian aggression and maintain defensive operations.
Reports indicate that Iran launched these drones targeting commercial vessels in the Strait, but the U.S. forces successfully destroyed them prior to impact.
This incident has escalated tensions in the region, raising concerns over the security of global maritime routes and energy supply chains. On Saturday, both Kuwait and Bahrain condemned Iran’s recent attacks on their territories.
Kuwait and Bahrain announced measures to prevent missile and drone attacks, while Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed retaliatory strikes on U.S. bases in Kuwait and Bahrain. These strikes were in response to previous U.S. attacks on the IRGC’s communication tower on Qeshm Island.
Bahrain’s Foreign Ministry stated that these attacks threaten the security and stability of the Gulf region. They urged Iran to cease its assaults, fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and respect the freedom of maritime navigation under international law.
Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry emphasized that the ongoing attacks represent a dangerous escalation at a time when global efforts are focused on preventing a larger regional conflict. Such actions cannot be justified or accepted under any pretext.
