New Delhi, September 16 (Daily Kiran) : Satish Salian, father of Disha Salian, has responded sharply to statements made by Aditya Thackeray, the main accused in the gang rape and murder case of his daughter. Thackeray had claimed in a press statement that he did not know Disha and that the allegations against him were politically motivated attempts to tarnish his reputation.
Salian dismissed Thackeray’s assertions as blatant lies meant to mislead. He pointed out that Thackeray had previously maintained the same stance in his affidavit regarding Salian’s petition, opposing the filing of an FIR and a CBI investigation. However, the High Court dismissed his objections in its order dated September 2, 2026.
Moreover, Salian highlighted that Thackeray had falsely sworn in front of the High Court that Disha’s case had already reached the Supreme Court and that the CBI had investigated it, rendering the High Court unable to hear the matter. Following a confirmation from the CBI, the High Court found Thackeray’s statement to be untrue, leading his lawyer to apologize in court.
Salian also noted that Thackeray had previously claimed he did not know Rhea Chakraborty. However, chats discovered during the investigation of Crime Number 15/2020 by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) contradicted this assertion. He emphasized that they possess substantial evidence linking Thackeray to criminal activities. Notably, Thackeray has never denied specific allegations regarding the location of his mobile tower at the crime scene or the NCB’s report from 2020, which includes records of phone surveillance suggesting his involvement in drug trafficking and personal drug use, including hydroponic cannabis.
Additionally, Salian pointed out that Thackeray had made the false claim of being out of Mumbai on June 8, 2020, the day Disha died, due to the death of his grandfather. This statement was proven false, as his grandfather was alive until June 14, 2020. To date, Thackeray has not responded to a defamation notice sent on October 21, 2023, by Advocate Chaitanya Rawate on behalf of Rashid Khan Pathan, the Chairman of the Supreme Court and High Court Litigants Association, regarding similar accusations.
Salian expressed disbelief that Thackeray would dare to accuse a grieving father seeking justice for his daughter while attempting to intimidate honest media outlets. He asserted that Thackeray’s tactics would not succeed. Salian credited the media for reopening the case, emphasizing that any objection to media involvement is malicious.
He suggested that Thackeray fears that the public’s scrutiny and media attention could hinder his ability to manipulate the system and evade accountability for his actions, as he has been accused in other cases, including the murder of actor Sushant Singh Rajput and drug trafficking. Salian concluded that the public’s interest does not obstruct a fair investigation; rather, it makes attempts to derail it significantly more challenging.
