Malda, September 16 (Daily Kiran) : In Malda, a special ticket inspection campaign was launched in the Bhagalpur-Jamalpur rail section by the Eastern Railway. The initiative aimed to curb ticketless and irregular travel. During the operation, 263 passengers were caught traveling without valid tickets, leading to a total fine of ₹2,53,040.
Railway officials stated that the campaign was conducted under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager Manish Kumar Gupta and Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Kartik Singh. The primary goal was to raise awareness among passengers about the importance of traveling with valid tickets and to promote a disciplined travel environment within the railway system.
The inspection targeted several key trains operating in the Bhagalpur-Jamalpur section. Notable trains included the 13334 Patna-Dumka Express, 12367 Bhagalpur-Anand Vihar Terminal Vikramshila Express, 12254 Anga Express, 15658 Brahmaputra Mail, 13241 Banka-Rajendra Nagar Terminal Express, and the 13419 Bhagalpur-Muzaffarpur Jan Sewa Express, among others.
During the campaign, railway authorities also encouraged passengers to utilize the Rail Vaan mobile app. This app allows travelers to book unreserved tickets and access various rail services and real-time travel information.
The railway emphasized that the digital ticketing system offers passengers a cashless, convenient, and hassle-free travel experience.
The Malda division has appealed to all travelers to carry proper and valid tickets during their journeys. The railway underscored that cooperation from passengers is essential for maintaining a safe, disciplined, and passenger-friendly rail environment.
Officials indicated that such special inspection campaigns will continue in the future to further discourage ticketless travel.
