Haridwar, September 16 (Daily Kiran) : In Haridwar, Mahamandaleshwar Karoli Shankar Mahadev praised Uttarakhand for becoming the first state in India to pass and implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). He emphasized that other states are now considering adopting similar measures. During a recent event, he questioned the opposition to the UCC, asking, “What is wrong with it?”
While extending birthday wishes to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, Mahadev commended the government’s efforts. He described Dhami as a dedicated leader committed to fulfilling his promises to the public. The Chief Minister has enacted several stringent laws, ensuring their enforcement. Notably, Uttarakhand is rigorously implementing the UCC, which has gained attention from other states looking to follow the same path.
Mahadev highlighted the introduction of strict laws related to riots and conversions, underscoring the government’s commitment to public safety. He mentioned a provision that holds individuals responsible for any damage to public or private property during riots.
Discussing the state’s anti-encroachment campaign, he referred to it as a measure against “land jihad.” This initiative has reportedly cleared approximately 20,000 acres of land in hilly and other areas. Mahadev noted that the government has focused on welfare for all communities while respecting the region’s rich traditions.
Uttarakhand, though small, is a state steeped in culture and tradition. Mahadev acknowledged the government’s efforts to balance religious sentiments with employment and livelihood issues. Chief Minister Dhami has worked diligently to promote the state’s development while honoring its cultural and religious heritage.
Mahamandaleshwar concluded by praising Dhami’s exceptional contributions to the state’s progress, stating that he has managed to uphold the sanctity of the “Devbhoomi” while fostering development.
