Raipur, June 24: In a tragic incident in the village of Mudenna, Chhattisgarh, family members and villagers protested outside Shivalik Engineering Industries Limited following the death of employee Ramesh Jangde. The protest involved placing his body in front of the factory as a demonstration of their anger.
Ramesh’s brother, Ram Narayan Jangde, revealed that on March 22, while working the night shift, a piece of metal injured Ramesh’s eye, causing swelling. The factory management sent him to Ram Krishna Care Hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, an infection developed, leading to paralysis. Ramesh passed away on June 22 during his treatment.
The family stated that Ramesh was the sole breadwinner, responsible for his wife and four children. They are demanding compensation from the factory management. In response, the grieving family and villagers staged a sit-in with Ramesh’s body in front of the factory.
As tensions escalated, local authorities dispatched police and the tehsildar to the scene. Senior officials, factory management, and the deceased’s family engaged in discussions. The family emphasized that Ramesh was the only provider, raising concerns about their future survival, which prompted their demand for compensation.
Tehsildar Jughal Kishore Patel reported that an agreement was reached between the management and the family. The management has committed to providing Ramesh’s salary to his wife for life and has agreed to support the education of his children. Following this agreement, the family took Ramesh’s body back to their village for a proper funeral.
Additionally, if Ramesh’s wife passes away for any reason, the children will receive a monthly salary until they turn 24. The family has alleged that safety regulations were not followed at the factory, contributing to this tragic incident. A formal complaint has been lodged with the relevant department, and a safety team will conduct a thorough investigation.
