Andhra Pradesh Implements Zero Tolerance Policy Against Drug Trafficking

Amaravati, June 26: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced on Friday that Andhra Pradesh has adopted a zero tolerance policy towards drug trafficking. He made this statement during an event marking the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

Naidu emphasized the state government’s commitment to combat drug trafficking and bring offenders to justice. In a social media post, he remarked that this day serves as a reminder that the fight against drugs is ultimately a battle for the youth, their dreams, health, and future.

He reiterated that Andhra Pradesh is dedicated to curbing drug trafficking and ensuring that those guilty face legal consequences. Additionally, the government aims to provide comprehensive support to individuals struggling with addiction, enabling them to recover with dignity and rebuild their lives.

The Chief Minister stated that the days of allowing drugs to thrive in the state are over. Today, Andhra Pradesh stands as a symbol of zero tolerance towards drug trafficking, hope for those seeking rehabilitation, and a safe future for every family.

Human Resource Development Minister Nara Lokesh also reaffirmed the government’s strong resolve to eradicate the drug problem on this significant day. He highlighted that the Andhra Pradesh government is actively dismantling drug networks through aggressive law enforcement campaigns, stringent border and transit monitoring, and extensive community rehabilitation programs. The state is also creating viable, legal livelihood opportunities for vulnerable communities.

Lokesh called upon every citizen, educational institution, and civil society group to collaborate in this crucial mission to ensure a safe, healthy, and drug-free future.

The minister further showcased key initiatives and achievements launched by the government in recent years on the social media platform X. Notably, the Chaitanyam campaign has successfully eradicated cannabis cultivation in the Alluri Sitarama Raju district, with alternative crops planted on 29,840 acres of land. The government has rehabilitated 325 families involved in cannabis farming.
