Lucknow, March 21: During the vibrant occasion of Vasant Navratri, a series of street plays based on the nine forms of Navadurga were performed across primary, upper primary, composite schools, and Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) as part of the ‘Mission Shakti 6.0’ campaign.
This initiative saw active participation from 242,825 children, 26,428 teachers, and 55,247 parents, who collectively spread awareness about children’s rights, safety, and women’s empowerment. Students brought the nine forms of Navadurga to life through engaging street plays. Additionally, during the rallies, children held placards displaying helpline numbers and messages related to children’s rights, safety, and education, effectively raising awareness through powerful slogans.
Basic Education Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Sandeep Singh, emphasized that the state government is committed to empowering, securing, and making girls self-reliant through the ‘Mission Shakti’ initiative. The messages conveyed by children through street plays and awareness rallies are both impactful and inspiring.
This campaign plays a crucial role in fostering positive change within society. Through the street plays organized in schools, students connected the forms of Navadurga to social contexts. The performances effectively highlighted themes such as girl safety, the importance of education, gender equality, and self-reliance, fostering awareness and sensitivity among the audience.
The rallies served to educate children about their rights, safety measures, and helpline services. Students made it clear through their slogans and messages that they are aware of their rights and ready to voice against any form of injustice. The significant involvement of parents and teachers transformed this event into a widespread public movement. This campaign, which has reached beyond schools into the community, marks a significant step towards girl empowerment.
Monika Rani, Director General of School Education in Uttar Pradesh, stated that street plays and awareness rallies are powerful mediums for the holistic development of students. Conveying the message of empowerment for girls through the forms of Navadurga and raising awareness about children’s rights embodies the core spirit of ‘Mission Shakti.’
