
Kolhapur, August 28: The Kolhapur police in Maharashtra have successfully apprehended two suspects, including the notorious leader of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. This significant operation targets inter-state organized crime.
The gang leader, Shamalal Govardhanram Puniya, also known as Bishnoi, along with his associate, Shriram Manju, alias Pachararam Bishnoi, was arrested by the local Crime Investigation Branch team within the premises of the Kolhapur District Sessions Court.
According to information from the Rajasthan and Pimpri-Chinchwad police, both suspects were wanted in several serious criminal cases. Upon learning of their presence in the court, Kolhapur police set a trap. As the two attempted to flee in their car upon seeing the police, officers blocked their exit by closing the gate, leading to their arrest.
Shamalal Puniya faces 17 serious charges, including murder, attempted murder, robbery, and illegal possession of firearms. Meanwhile, Shriram Manju has 26 cases against him, including attempted murder, robbery, rape, harassment, theft, and burglary. The process to hand over both suspects to the respective Pimpri-Chinchwad and Rajasthan police for further investigation has begun.
This operation was conducted under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Neelotpal, with the assistance of Police Inspector Sushant Chavan and his team from the local Crime Investigation Branch, in collaboration with the Pimpri-Chinchwad police. The police are continuing their efforts for further action and investigation against the criminals.
