Gonda, June 8: Panic erupted in Gonda district’s tehsil on Monday when an elderly man suddenly fell ill and died while reviewing documents. The deceased has been identified as 60-year-old Anil Srivastava, a resident of Sitaram Puram Colony. He had come to the tehsil for a complaint and record-related work.
According to reports, Anil Srivastava was examining records in room number 16 on the first floor of the tehsil building. During this time, he suddenly became unwell and collapsed from his chair. Revenue officials present at the scene quickly informed their superiors.
Upon receiving the information, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Jitendra Kumar Gautam, the town police chief, and the deputy tehsildar arrived at the location. Police personnel attempted to perform CPR on Anil Srivastava, but by then, his condition had already deteriorated. He was rushed to Gonda Medical College, where doctors declared him dead after examination. According to medical staff, he had likely passed away before reaching the hospital.
Initially, a heart attack is suspected as the potential cause of death. However, doctors have not yet confirmed this officially. Administrative officials state that the actual cause of death will be determined after the post-mortem report is released. Given the extreme heat currently affecting the region, there are also concerns about health-related emergencies.
SDM Jitendra Kumar Gautam confirmed the incident, stating that Anil Srivastava had come to the tehsil for document inspection. After his sudden illness, he was immediately sent to the medical college, but doctors pronounced him dead. The tehsil premises were thrown into chaos following the incident. The town police have taken possession of the body and informed the family. A panchnama was conducted in the presence of relatives, and the body has been sent for post-mortem. Currently, police and tehsil administration are investigating the matter and awaiting the post-mortem report.
