Kolkata, September 13 (Daily Kiran) : Dr. Madhuchanda Kar, the national vice president of the BJP and a senior oncologist, participated in MRCCON 2026 held in Kolkata. During the event, she addressed key issues related to medical rehabilitation, education, and Indian history. Kar stressed that effective patient care requires more than just medication and surgery; rehabilitation is equally crucial for improving quality of life.
She pointed out that patients are often advised to take medications and undergo surgeries but are seldom informed about the significance of rehabilitation post-treatment. “It’s essential to educate people about the role of rehabilitation in maintaining daily activities and enhancing life quality,” she stated.
Using breast cancer as a case study, Dr. Kar noted that many patients experience swelling and heaviness in their arms after surgery. She emphasized that timely rehabilitation can help these patients return to a normal life. Both doctors and patients, she argued, should focus on improving life quality alongside treating the illness.
On the topics of education and secularism, Dr. Kar advocated for equality in the educational system, asserting that all citizens deserve equal opportunities. She echoed the sentiment of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas,” suggesting that the education system should be inclusive and equitable.
Supporting comments made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding historical narratives, Dr. Kar criticized the overemphasis on invaders in Indian history, arguing that the contributions of great warriors and historical figures have been overlooked. She called for the new generation to be educated about the legacies of heroes like Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Dr. Kar insisted that students should learn about India’s glorious history and the personalities who contributed to nation-building. She highlighted the urgent need for educational policy reforms to connect the younger generation with the country’s rich history and cultural heritage.
Throughout the program, she reiterated that the healthcare system’s goal should not only be to cure diseases but also to empower patients to lead better, self-sufficient lives.
