Dilip Ghosh Comments on Mamata Banerjees Possible Candidacy in Nandigram

Newtown, September 10 (Daily Kiran) : Amidst the political buzz surrounding the upcoming assembly by-elections in West Bengal, Minister Dilip Ghosh addressed speculation about former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee potentially contesting from Nandigram. Speaking to reporters in Newtown, Ghosh remarked that many claims and promotions surface before elections, but the true situation will become clear in due time.

When asked about Banerjee’s possible candidacy in Nandigram, Ghosh stated, “When election results come in, there’s a lot of publicity. The truth will be revealed when the time comes. Therefore, there’s no need to overthink; the public supports us, which is why we are winning.”

Nandigram has historically been a significant constituency in West Bengal politics. Banerjee contested from this seat in the 2021 assembly elections. Should she decide to run again, it could reignite a fierce political contest in the state.

Ghosh also discussed the government’s focus on modernizing the railways, following the approval of three multi-tracking railway projects by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA). He noted that new railway lines and modern technologies are being introduced worldwide. Upgrading India’s vast railway network to meet the demands of its large population while providing better services remains a significant challenge.

Since Prime Minister Modi took office, trains like Vande Bharat and Amrit Bharat have been launched. Efforts are also underway to increase train speeds, upgrade railway lines, and enhance passenger amenities.

He acknowledged that the modernization of the railway network involves new lines, multi-tracking, advanced technology, improved facilities, and faster trains. However, he admitted that the implementation of new technologies and infrastructure might cause delays in some train operations.

Ghosh emphasized that meeting the needs of the country’s vast population while aligning the railway network with global standards is no easy task. The government is committed to seriously working on railway modernization and continuously adopting new technologies.
