Kolkata, October 2 (Daily Kiran) : The West Bengal government has launched the “Seva Setu Abhiyan,” a series of welfare assistance camps, across various regions in the state to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti on October 2. The initiative aims to ensure that residents can access beneficial government schemes.
An official from the state secretariat at Nabanna stated that many individuals have yet to apply for schemes such as the Annapurna Scheme and Ayushman Bharat. Some applications have also been rejected. To address this, the government decided to set up assistance camps throughout the state starting Friday. These camps will provide information on how to fill out application forms for those who have not yet applied and assist those whose applications were denied by explaining the reasons for rejection.
The camps, managed by officials from municipal corporations, municipalities, and panchayats, are strategically placed to ensure that services are accessible close to residents’ homes. The official noted, “We have tried to set up more camps so that people don’t have to travel far. These camps began at 10 AM on Friday and will run until October 4. A total of 3,300 camps will be established at block and municipal levels across the state, offering access to 60 welfare schemes in one location. The ‘Seva Setu Abhiyan’ camps will operate from 10 AM to 4 PM.”
Key schemes featured at these camps include the Annapurna Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Shiksha Shree, Joy Johar, PM Kisan Credit Card, and PM Kisan Svanidhi. Additionally, new application forms for widow pensions, old-age pensions, and disability allowances will be distributed at these camps. Attendees can also inquire about the status of their Annapurna Scheme and Ayushman cards.
In Kolkata, a camp has been set up for every two adjacent wards. To further assist residents, the state government has launched a dedicated helpline number to help people reach their nearest camp effortlessly.
