
Hyderabad, October 2 (Daily Kiran) : On October 2, 2026, Telangana’s Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Bapu Ghat in Hyderabad to mark Gandhi Jayanti. They offered flowers at the site, where Gandhi’s ashes were immersed at the confluence of the Musi and A.C. rivers.
Accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and other prominent leaders, the officials laid floral tributes at Gandhi’s memorial. The gathering included Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee President Mahesh Kumar Goud, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin, and the Governor’s advisor V. Hanumanth Rao, all honoring the legacy of the Father of the Nation.
In addition to the tribute, the Governor and Chief Minister inaugurated a digital museum. This facility features a 76-foot collage wall displaying over 400 images of Gandhi, and they participated in an interfaith prayer meeting held in the prayer hall.
The Governor also paid tribute to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on his birth anniversary. In his message, he highlighted Gandhi’s ideals of truth, non-violence, and compassion, which continue to inspire humanity. He called upon citizens to uphold these values along with Shastri’s principles of simplicity, integrity, and selfless service, emphasizing the importance of peace, unity, and patriotism for a developed and compassionate India.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy remembered Gandhi as a great soul who taught the values of truth, peace, and compassion. He expressed deep respect for Gandhi, who led India’s freedom struggle through non-violence. Reflecting on Gandhi’s invaluable contributions, the Chief Minister noted that the freedom fighter laid a strong foundation for self-reliance, village governance, and social equality.
He assured that the people’s government in Telangana is committed to following Gandhi’s principles. The Chief Minister emphasized that the state’s mission is to lead Telangana towards peace, social justice, equality, and development, staying true to Gandhi’s teachings as a genuine tribute to the great leader.
