Emphasizing True Heroes: A Call to Youth by Himachal Pradesh Governor

Shimla, October 2 (Daily Kiran) : A special event was held in Shimla on October 2 to commemorate the birthdays of Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. The gathering included prominent figures such as Himachal Pradesh Governor Kavindra Gupta, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, Leader of the Opposition Jairam Thakur, and former Congress President Pratibha Singh, who all paid tribute to the two iconic leaders.

During the event, Governor Gupta spoke to the media, highlighting Gandhi’s unparalleled contribution to the freedom movement through his message of “Ahimsa Paramo Dharma.” He noted that Gandhi united diverse communities and raised awareness about self-governance during the struggle for independence. The principles of truth and non-violence championed by Gandhi remain relevant globally today.

Gupta also remembered Shastri, praising his leadership during the 1965 war and his enduring slogan “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan.” He emphasized Shastri’s legacy of simplicity and integrity, which the nation cherishes. Both Gandhi and Shastri serve as ideals and sources of inspiration for the country’s youth.

The governor made a heartfelt appeal to the younger generation, urging them to familiarize themselves with the history and contributions of true national heroes. He stressed the importance of learning about the sacrifices made by figures like Maharana Pratap, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, and Guru Gobind Singh.

Gupta firmly stated that those who invaded or oppressed India should never be considered role models. It is crucial for future generations to understand the sacrifices made to protect the nation’s freedom and culture.
